Donation FAQs

How much can I donate annually? 

As per Elections Canada rules, the maximum allowable donation is $1,775 per person, per year. For tax compliance purposes, ticket purchases or donations exceeding $1,775 must be made using different transactions under different names. 

Note: in addition to donating $1,775 annually to a Conservative MP or EDA (such as Melissa Lantsman), you can also donate $1,775 per year to the central Conservative Party organization. 

Are there tax credits for donating?

Generous tax credits are available if you choose to donate. 

Credit on first $400 75% $300
Credit on > $400 to $750 50% $175
Credit on > $750 to $1,750   33% $175
Maximum Credit $650

*Example: a $1,000 donation will receive a $557.50 tax receipt.

When will I receive my tax receipt? 

Immediately after donating, you will receive a confirmation email and proof of payment. Formal tax receipts will be mailed at the end of each calendar year, in time for you to file your income tax return. For instance, if you donate in 2026, you will receive your tax receipt by February 2027. 

Can corporations make political contributions? 

Under Elections Canada rules, corporations are not allowed to make political contributions at the federal level. If you wish to contribute, you must do so under your own name. 

Where does my donation go? 

Your donation will support Melissa Lantsman alongside Conservative outreach efforts in Thornhill, the GTA, and across Canada. These outreach efforts are crucial towards electing common-sense Conservatives who will make Pierre Poilievre our Prime Minister.
